Ruslana Korshunova had conquered the catwalks before turning 21. The world obviously became a playground for her the moment she was crowned with the most coveted supermodel title. So why did she end her life by throwing herself from the ninth floor of a New York apartment block?
Cases like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Amy Winehouse are just few who won the glamour and fan-following in a very early age but they lost themselves among drugs or other things. Of course chances are there that, these may be sporadic incidents, which can’t be used to generalize the idea. Many have continued their rise in the stardom. Still, majority points somewhere else.
Which means that for some, it’s actually themselves that they can’t handle.
May be ’everything comes @ cost’.
But then, stardom is little too ’expensive’ if the cost is one’s life.
Material gain in this world is not the end-all and be-all of everything. Riches fade and can never buy peace of mind. In life, living a balanced, normal lifestyle is necessary or else you will be living in a virtual world of perfection and later be disappointed to find that not everything is perfect.
There have been cases in the past where cases like suicide and drugs from the glamour industry have been reported.. may be its just that every body keeps an eye on the glamor world so whatever happens there becomes news. There have been suicide cases reported of successful entreprenuers, engineering students as well... but they go unnoticed...
Cases like this have been witnessed in the distant past too...and with well-established and ripe-aged celebrities (not just young people). Drugs are not a new thing...even cases like that of Ruslana have always been on the celeb horizon.
So, its wrong to say that ’today’s youth’ is too weak to handle glamordom.
