Value of life on the decline: Can a price tag be put on life?

America’s Environmental Protection Agency has valued a statistical life to $6.9 million. The value has witnessed a drop of $1 million from just five years ago. The hypothetical value helps government draw up regulations weighing the costs versus the lifesaving benefits of a proposed rule. The less the value, the less will be the need for a regulation.
